MarCast Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the MarCast app handles. The short version: MarCast has no user accounts, your location never leaves your phone, and we collect almost nothing.

1. What We Collect

• Anonymous install token. When first launched, the app registers an anonymous install identifier with our servers. It authorizes forecast downloads and contains no personal details — no name, email, or Apple Account information.
• Anonymous purchase identifier and subscription state. MarCast uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat assigns your app installation a random ID and processes your purchase history (product, price, renewal status) and basic device information (device model, OS version) on our behalf. We never see your name, email, or payment details — Apple handles all payment and does not share them with us.
• Forecast requests. When the app downloads forecast data, our servers receive standard technical request data (such as your IP address) needed to deliver the response. The request does not include your location, the places you look at, or anything you tap — forecast data is delivered as a complete regional dataset, identical for every user, and readings are computed on your device. We use request data transiently to operate the Service and do not use it to build profiles of you.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• No accounts, names, email addresses, or passwords — the app has none.
• No payment card details (Apple processes all payments).
• No advertising identifiers, no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
• We do not collect your location. If you grant location permission, your position is shown on the map entirely on your device. Your coordinates are never transmitted to our servers, we keep no history of where you have been, and your location is never used for advertising or to train or improve our forecast model. You can revoke location access anytime in iOS Settings.
• Saved dive spots and favorites stay on your device (and, if you use iOS's iCloud features, in your own personal iCloud for backup — Viziato has no access to your iCloud data).

3. How We Use Information

Only to operate MarCast: delivering forecasts, validating subscriptions, restoring purchases, fixing problems, and complying with law. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers that make the app work (Apple for purchases; RevenueCat for subscription management; our hosting/CDN providers for delivering forecasts), each of which processes it only to provide their service to us.

4. Retention and Deletion

Subscription records held via RevenueCat are kept while needed to service your subscription and meet legal obligations. Technical server logs are kept briefly for operations and security, then deleted or anonymized. The identifiers we hold — the random install token, RevenueCat's random app ID, and IP addresses in short-lived logs — are not linked to your name or contact details, and in most cases we cannot connect them to you. If you contact us at info@viziato.io, we will delete associated data where technically and legally possible. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device; manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account.

5. Children

MarCast is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information and to object to certain processing. Given how little we collect, the practical way to exercise these rights is to email us at info@viziato.io. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. VIZIATO LLC is the controller of the limited data described above. Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (delivering forecasts and subscriptions you request) and legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, and short-lived operational logs). The data described in Section 1 is processed on servers in the United States by us and our service providers; where required, transfers rely on our processors' safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or Data Privacy Framework participation. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

7. Changes to This Policy

If our data practices change, we will update this policy, post it in the app and at viziato.io, and update the effective date above.
